Open petition: Review political party compliance with Equality Act 2010
Created by Martin Osborne
Closes on
We call on the Government to review regulatory mechanisms for ensuring political parties’ compliance with the Equality Act 2010 regarding religious and ethnic protections.
Political parties play a key role in UK democracy and must obey equality laws. We believe that defining mainstream religious or ethnic identity components—such as Jewish self-determination—as inherently racist risks creating a hostile environment. In our view this also risks breaching Sections 13, 19, and 26 of the Equality Act 2010. We believe a review is needed to ensure that political parties comply with the Equality Act 2010 regarding religious and ethnic protections.
