Rejected petition: Amend PACE Code C to include mandatory neurodivergent training for all police.

Rejected on

We ask the home office to make amendments to PACE Code C, making it mandatory for all police and custody staff to receive neurodiversity training and ensure there is a specialist Appropriate Adult service for neurodivergents taken into custody.

Many Neurodivergent people are frequently receiving legal sanctions, convictions and unnecessary, completely avoidable trauma as a result. These things can significantly have a devastating impact on their lives. This is due to police misunderstanding the condition, intent and communication differences / barriers. A criminal / police record can affect their employment chances and can unnecessarily make them appear as a higher risk on risk assessments.
