Open petition: Mandate employer to provide specialised assessments for disabled people
Created by Edward Anthony Boden
Closes on
Mandate that all employers ensure the occupational health provider they contract offer easily accessible in-person or specialised assessments for people with complex disabilities or needs. In our view, the current system leaves many disabled people at a significant disadvantage.
Disabled people already face significant disadvantages compared to non-disabled people when it comes to employment. We think that when employers contract occupational health providers which only offer standardised methods of assessment to all service users, those with complex disabilities do not have their needs met. In our view people with vastly different needs and disabilities being forced into the same box as everybody else does not comply with The Equality Act and means the people there to help them, could actually be disadvantaging them. We therefore call on employers to be mandated to offer specialised assessments for disabled people.
