Open petition: Income tax relief for chronically ill people to access private treatment

Created by Urvi Shah
Closes on

Many people with chronic conditions pay for private treatments, diagnostics, therapies, prescriptions, and vital equipment out of pocket. We feel that chronically ill individuals are taxed twice: on earnings and to survive. We call for income tax deductions to offset these unfair costs.

We are concerned that delays in NHS care forces individuals with chronic conditions to self-fund their own medical procedures, diagnostics, prescriptions, therapies, and essential equipment. We believe that stringent state eligibility rules and record waiting lists leave patients with no choice but to pay privately just to live a dignified life. We call for income tax deductions to offset these costs.
