Rejected petition: Subsidise the Grangemouth chemical sector to halt job losses

Rejected on

We call on PM Andy Burnham to deliver on his pledge to reindustrialise Britain by temporarily subsidising operational losses across the Grangemouth chemical manufacturing sector. The government must provide emergency funding to keep sites open while stakeholders find long-term solutions.

Proposed industrial closures in the area risk 377 highly skilled manufacturing jobs, compounding recent oil refinery losses in the region.
PM Burnham has explicitly stated that decades of deindustrialisation have hollowed out our communities. Weurge the government to "walk the walk" on its reindustrialisation strategy protecting this critical hub in our agricultural and manufacturing supply chains. the £200 million regional funding committed to Grangemouth must be deployed as a stop-gap subsidy.
