Rejected petition: Make Dover the designated port for all Channel small-boat disembarkations
Rejected on
We want the Government to designate Dover as the UK disembarkation point for people brought to the UK following small-boat crossings of the English Channel, rather than routinely using other UK ports or harbours, with onward transfer to designated Home Office processing facilities.
We believe the UK should have a clear and consistent national policy for Channel small-boat disembarkations. Dover has established infrastructure for receiving Channel arrivals and onward transfer to Home Office facilities. Concentrating routine disembarkations at a designated location would provide consistency and accountability, while avoiding disruption and additional pressure on smaller coastal towns, cities, ports and local communities.
