Open petition: Allow childcare costs for children under age 4 to be paid from gross income

Created by Jeremy Mark Hutchinson
Closes on

We believe that if child care costs for children under 4 years old could be paid out of gross income, this could encourage couples to consider having more than one child.

Even more importantly, we think, if childcare costs were paid from gross income, there could be a financial incentive for both parents to consider a return to work where currently, owing to paying child costs from net income, many couples decide that one of them should give up working. We also think this could be a boost to the childcare industry and whether individuals or companies, all parties will be paying tax to HMRC which in our view will be an improvement compared to the current muddled approach which deters both having children and both parents working.
