Open petition: Require employers to give reasons for unsuccessful job applications

Created by Anna Eve Mallalieu
Closes on

Require employers to provide applicants with a clear reason when their job application is unsuccessful, particularly where the applicant has completed an interview or assessment.

Job applications can be stressful and time-consuming. After putting time and effort into an application, waiting anxiously for a response can be difficult, only to receive a rejection with no explanation. When this happens repeatedly, applicants can become frustrated and unsure where they are going wrong. Requiring employers to give a reason would male recruitment more transparent and help applicants understand what they could improve, particularly after interviews or assessments.
