Rejected petition: Urge the UK to lead urgent international action to protect civilians in the DRC
Rejected on
We call on the UK Government to use its position as a permanent UN Security Council member to push for urgent international action to protect civilians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, address ongoing atrocities and help bring an end to the conflict.
The humanitarian crisis in eastern DRC cannot be ignored. Civilians continue to face killings, displacement, sexual violence and other serious abuses amid ongoing conflict. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, the UK has a unique opportunity to press for meaningful international action. We call on the Government to work with the UN and African partners to protect civilians, support humanitarian access, strengthen diplomatic pressure and help secure lasting peace.
