Rejected petition: Make photographing/filming children in public illegal without parental consent

Rejected on

Make it illegal for children to be made the main subject of photographic or video graphic material anywhere, including in public places, without written parental or legal guardian consent. Make the publishing and sharing of such materials illegal.

My children were recently recorded by a stranger at the fair. The images taken in that example were very clearly of our children, zoomed in, not of the ride they were on. The person recording had no children with him and no link to the ride. I deleted the images off the phone. After attending the police determined that it was not illegal for that person to make those images due to it being a public place. I was advised that I risked facing a public disorder offence for deleting the images.
