Open petition: Make allowing dog attacks on cats a specific offence
Created by Drew Carter
Closes on
Amend the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 to make allowing a dog to be out of control when it attacks a cat a specific offence.
We believe owners rarely face prosecution if their dog attacks a cat. Update the law to enable criminal police investigations, grant courts the power to issue ownership bans, or impose prison sentences for multiple attacks.
We want grieving owners to be protected by establishing a specific offence. We are concerned that currently some dangerous owners escape prosecution. This petition seeks to reform the law to ensure proper accountability, public safety, and justice for families.
