Open petition: Review NHS advice and assessment pathways for patients with complex conditions
Created by Melissa Slinger
Closes on
We would like a review of NHS specialist services to consider how to provide an urgent advice and assessment pathway for existing patients whose condition changes significantly but who do not require emergency care. This should bridge the gap between routine appointments and A&E.
Patients with complex conditions can experience significant changes that need timely specialist advice, but are not necessarily emergencies. Too often, the only options are waiting for a routine appointment or attending A&E. This leaves patients and carers uncertain and can delay appropriate assessment. We want a national review to identify these gaps and establish clear urgent advice and escalation pathways, with appropriate response times and access to specialist assessment where necessary.
