The petition calls for the Government to create a new, specific absence code for neurodivergent children who need a day off because of sensory overload, burnout or mental exhaustion.

The Core Arguments Behind the Request are:

- Adjustments are needed to ensure neurodivergent students are treated fairly
- End the potential criminalisation of Mental Health Absence: i.e. Prevent parents of neurodivergent children from potentially being fined or prosecuted under current truancy laws when their child is unable to attend school due to sensory overload or autistic burnout.
