Rejected petition: Register domestic abuse offenders & flag their profiles on all police systems

Rejected on

Create a National Domestic Abuser Register. Anyone convicted of coercive control, emotional, mental, financial, or physical abuse must be registered. This must place a risk flag on police databases. If a future victim contacts police, officers are instantly alerted to ensure proactive safeguarding.

Clare's Law puts the burden on new victims to ask about a partner's past. Many victims of coercive control, mental, emotional, or financial abuse do not realize they are in danger until it is too late. A centralized register that automatically flags an offender's history on standard police systems ensures law enforcement is instantly aware of the risk during any intervention. We must shift tracking onto the system to stop repeat offenders and protect future survivors before harm occurs.

Why was this petition rejected?

We already have a petition open on such a register, which you may wish to sign:

How such a register interacts with police systems would be an operational matter.
