Rejected petition: Reinstate the Portsmouth to Le Havre passenger ferry link and protect routes

Rejected on

Intervene to reinstate the historic Portsmouth to Le Havre passenger ferry crossing. We want the Government to ensure that public funding given for port infrastructure, such as green shore-power grids, requires private ferry operators to commit to long-term passenger route continuity.

The Portsmouth to Le Havre route is vital for community travel and local trade. Over £24 million in central taxpayer funding via the DfT, alongside millions from local government and port sources, has built high-tech port infrastructure. Private operators benefit from these public assets while cutting essential passenger links early. We believe any major public investment must legally guarantee that historic international travel links are fully protected for UK taxpayers.
