Rejected petition: Stop the Proposed Cuts to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme
Rejected on
We urge the UK Government to protect Boiler Upgrade Scheme funding and reject cuts to fund the Ministry of Defence. Cuts would devastate the renewable heating industry, threaten jobs and businesses, and make it harder for households to switch from fossil fuels to clean, low-carbon heating.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is vital to helping households afford the transition from fossil fuels to clean, low-carbon heating. Cutting funding to support the Ministry of Defence would devastate the renewable heating industry, threaten jobs, damage businesses and undermine investment. It would make heat pumps less affordable for consumers, slow progress towards net zero and create uncertainty for installers and manufacturers. The Government must protect funding and support the industry's future.

"What the Budget confirmed (28 October 2026)
Confirmed in the official Budget 2026 document:Boiler Upgrade Scheme kept, not abolished. The government says it “remains committed to heat pump deployment and will maintain the Boiler Upgrade Scheme at current funding levels of £400 million in 2027‑28 and rising broadly in line with inflation thereafter".”
As things stand, your petition is unclear because the Government has confirmed that no cuts will take place.
