Rejected petition: Demand longer imprisonment for rapists and sexual offenders
Rejected on
I am deeply distressed and frustrated by the alarming leniency in sentencing rapists and sexual offenders. As someone who has witnessed the trauma such crimes inflict upon victims, I can no longer remain silent.
It is beyond time that we make changes to our judicial system to reflect the serious nature of these offenses and to offer victims a sense of justice and security, knowing that their perpetrators are kept away from society for a longer period. This petition calls on lawmakers to reform current sentencing laws. We urge them to implement minimum imprisonment sentences for rapists and sexual offenders that are comparable to the lifetime impact these crimes have on victims.
