Open Cap home heating oil prices to protect off-grid households from fuel poverty

Introduce statutory regulation and a fair price cap on domestic heating oil (kerosene) to shield off-grid consumers from extreme market volatility.
Over 1.5 million UK homes rely on heating oil, leaving them exposed to sudden price spikes.

Unlike gas and electricity consumers who are safeguarded by the Ofgem price cap, many off-grid communities face severe financial hardship from unpredictable upfront costs. Heating a home is a basic necessity, and we feel it is unjust that rural or un-networked households are left completely vulnerable to market shocks. We urge the Government to regulate this sector and establish an equitable retail price cap.
