Open petition: Mandate and fund privacy screens for all frontline emergency service vehicles

Created by Diane brooks
Closes on

We want the Government to mandate and provide central funding for all frontline police vehicles and ambulances to carry rapid-deploy incident privacy screens.

When serious road traffic accidents or medical emergencies occur in public spaces, injured victims are frequently exposed to onlookers and "rubberneckers." In many cases, members of the public film these traumatic events, compromising the victim's privacy and dignity at their most vulnerable moment.
While some specialist units have access to barrier screening, it is not a standard requirement for all standard emergency vehicles. Mandating lightweight, fast-deploy incident screens across all frontline services will protect patient dignity, shield victims from unlawful public filming, and allow paramedics and police officers to work efficiently without distraction
