Open petition: Create a new medal to recognise British Commonwealth Occupation Force Japan
Created by Richard Bazeley
Closes on
We want a new service medal created to recognise the service of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force who were in Japan from 1946 to 1948.
Those serving in War Campaigns received medals but BCOF never did. BCOF faced Hiroshima’s residual radiation risks, War Like conditions, lost men and spent years away from home. We believe that without their commitment Japan may have never become a peaceful Ally. We feel that they never received the recognition they deserved. Many families remember and call for the recognition of their mothers and fathers for all the generations to follow. We ask for the approval of a British Commonwealth Occupation Force Medal 1946-1948.
