Rejected petition: Reopen 24-hour Accident and Emergency department at Kent and Canterbury Hospital
Rejected on
We call on the Government to provide the funding and support necessary to reopen a fully functioning, consultant-led, 24-hour Accident and Emergency department at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, with the appropriate staffing, diagnostic facilities and emergency care services.
Canterbury's full A&E closed in 2005, much of East Kent has relied on emergency departments at QEQM Hospital in Margate and William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
Residents are concerned about overcrowding, lengthy journeys, delays in accessing emergency treatment and the resilience of existing services.
With population growth across East Kent, we believe emergency healthcare provision must expand to meet demand.
We want the Government restore a full A&E at Canterbury
