Rejected petition: Urgently reduce excessive A&E waiting times at Wigan Hospital

Rejected on

We call on the Government to take urgent action to stop patients having to wait in a corridor for 1 or 2 nights at the Accident and Emergency department at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan. The population of over 330,000 people in Wigan deserve safe and dignified emergency care.

We ask the Government to fund a recovery plan for Wigan A&E, developed with WWL, NHS Trust, NHS GM, Wigan Council and LHP's with milestones for
-Achieving the NHS four-hour A&E standard.
-Ensuring sufficient doctors, nurses and other staff to meet patient demand, including evenings, nights and weekends.
-Increase hospital beds and improve patient flow.
-Preventing delays for patients who are medically fit to leave hospital.
-Reducing ambulance handover delays.
