Rejected petition: Reconsider the New School Meal Regulations in Wales

Rejected on

To Reconsider the new school meal regulations, assess their impact on family finances and children with ARFID or additional needs, and introduce flexible alternatives. Ensure no child goes hungry or families face no extra costs.

We all agree and fully support healthy eating but these changes could put extra financial pressure on families if children refuse unfamiliar meals and parents must provide alternative food. Children with ARFID, autism, sensory difficulties or additional needs may struggle significantly with changes to familiar foods. Enough changes have already been made this year, and further restrictions risk children going hungry and food being wasted.
