Time spent behind bars shouldn't be a luxury.

Prisons should be a place of hardship and this will act as a strong deterrent to make would-be criminals think twice before commiting crimes.

At a time of economic difficulty and cuts, surely a lavish diet for inmates should not be subsidised by the tax-payer. A diet of bread and water is unpleasant but would not see anyone starve, this is all criminals deserve.
