Rejected petition I think all dogs should be on a lead in public areas.
I've had my son jumped at by a dog and bitten, which has left him very nervous. My husband went to the rescue of a man, his dog then himself was attacked by a dog. The man needed hospital treatment and the dog needed treatment at the vets.A friends dog attacked, needing treatment.mine attacked too.
More details
Owners with dogs off lead are not always irresponsible and their dogs are not always vicious but unfortunately the only way to make dog walking safe and enjoyable for lots of people and make it as safe as we can for our children to play out and feel safe is to try and have all dogs on leads. And if by doing so it prevents one child or adult from serious or fatal injuries or one pet from the same it will be worth that change in the law.
