Rejected petition A 2nd referendum is required to ratify the mandate before Article 50 is invoked.

Rejected on

There have been a number if material changes in the landscape, such as a change in PM and fuller understanding of EU response as a direct result of the first EU referendum.

Also, as consequences of leaving the EU will be so far reaching, it should only be undertaken after a period of reflection.

The UK creates primary legislation through a process of proposal, debate and reflection before ratification.

If the results of the first EU referendum are acted upon without reflection and ratification the UK parliament will have denied the UK population the right to consider the impact of a very far reaching decision that will have permanent repercussions for the population.
