Rejected petition Agree to grant asylum to refugees fleeing anti-gay persecution in Chechnya.

Over a hundred men suspected of being gay have been abducted, tortured and some even killed in the southern Russian republic of Chechnya.

The British government have condemned what is happening, but haven't given a clear indication they're willing to take in refugees. They should do so now.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

In accordance with international obligations, a well-founded fear of persecution on account of sexual orientation or gender identity is already one of the grounds on which asylum can be granted. It is not clear what further action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take.

If you would like the UK Government to offer automatic asylum to LGBT people from Russia, you might like to sign this petition instead:
