Rejected petition Issuing all police officers with a firearm (hand gun) to ensure their safety

Due to the increased violence towards the members of the community and UK police force, it should now be mandatory that all front line police officers should carry a Sidearm (hand gun) to ensure the safety of the public.

There has been a massive increase in knife crime, violent assault towards the UK public & police officers. Offenders are routinely carrying weapons to harm the public and police officers. There has been a increase in police officers killed on duty by offenders.
If police officers were to routinely carry sidearms this would create a deterrent & offenders would be less likely to carry weapons in public, there will be decreased assaults towards police & increased safety for the members of public.
