Important:

This petition was submitted during the 2019-2024 parliament

Rejected petition Legally ensure future proper funding & staffing of the NHS & Social Services.

The levels of service required in these areas needs to be decided, cross-party, in parliament, with active representation from groups representing patients and medical experts. These must then be enshrined in law as must the salaries and protection of the staff. We owe these workers a huge debt.

More details

The current Covid-19 crisis has shown the consequences of allowing our critical services to run down. We would all be better off if we were starting from a fully funded and staffed position. Over the last 10 or so years we have lost 20,000+ nurses and countless doctors and ancillaries. The Nightingale units would have their staff!

The NHS belongs to us, not the government, not any political party and not any special interest group!

It now needs more from us than a handclap on the doorstop.
