Rejected petition No removal of historical statues without a local democratic audited process.

To stop the removal of historical statues or images in public places, unless supported by an audited democratic process. Any removal must comply with any restrictions imposed by listed building status.

More details

The current mass removal of historical statues, is wrong as it is driven by the rule of the mob and the criminal destruction of the statue in Bristol which has acted as a catalyst for these removals. We cannot have criminal acts dictating the presiding authority's actions.
Whilst some figures have racist connections, the statues commemorate philanthropy and the whole life.
Without these statues, how do or children learn the rights and wrongs of history?
