Rejected petition Create a National Emergency Services day, recognise those that keep us safe.

Create a National day of recognition to say thank you to all those who work in the Emergency Services. Base the day on the recognition we give to our Armed Forces for their services.

More details

Similar to the Armed Forces, these people keep us safe, put their lives on the line for us. The COVID-19 outbreak has shown the dedication that all of the Emergency Services Personnel give to our nation. Theirs is a calling beyond a career.

We realised just how much they mean to us on Thursday 26th March 2020, when we stood on our doorsteps at 8pm and applauded the NHS staff fighting for us on the front line.

Police, Fire, Ambulance, Rescue, NHS. They catch us when we fall. We salute you.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We understand that you want the Government to do something to acknowledge the role of the NHS, but it's not clear exactly what you want the Government to do. The Government is not responsible for designating a national day.

We have started a petition calling on the Government to create a new Bank Holiday in recognition of the NHS and all its amazing workers, which you might like to sign: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/303882

We have also started a petition calling on the Government to award Covid-19 medals to all emergency services and involved armed forces, which you might like to sign: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/302613
