Rejected petition Rename Early May Bank Holiday in tribute to those who brought us through COVID19
Everyone in the UK and those that will follow us must never forget the horrors of COVID-19. Rename the 3 May 2021 holiday to something meaningful; and in perpetuity. Make Friday the 30 April 2021 a one off funded public holiday to provide an extended period for reflection and charitable events.
More details
The Government should create a lasting tribute that will serve as a reminder of the human sacrifices and heroic efforts that have already been made and continue to be, by care workers in all areas of public service in the fight against COVID-19. HM the Queen has expressed her gratitude to the NHS; for unity of effort and her respect for community spirit. The words in her speech "I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge" are relevant.
