Rejected petition Diversify school curriculum to help address systemic racism in the UK
Add Black writers to all curriculums. Recognise UK's civil rights history. Play an active role in celebrating both Black British figures and history. Acknowledge UK colonialism and how it impacts racism today. Address white privilege, supremacy, fragility and how they facilitate racism.
More details
In light of recent events in America, it is increasingly important to recognise the racism embedded in our society by acknowledging Black culture and individuals who impact our country.
We urge the government to engage with work, such as by The Black Curriculum, and understand the need to teach a diverse curriculum that educates young people about the reality of Britain’s past and present which will enable us all to change the future.
