Rejected petition Require the return of all compensation paid to slave owners the last 200 years

Government must immediately require the return of all compensation paid to slave owners and their descendants over the last 200 years. Government should then invest it exclusively and directly into community projects and services, with particular consultation with BAME communities to decide use.

More details

In 1833 the UK Government agreed to pay the equivalent of £1.3 billion to slave owners in compensation. (£11 million at the time)

This money has come from the pockets of Slaves and their descendants for generations via taxation, as well as the pockets of every other British tax payer - this compensation was and still is an affront to every human in society, but in particular the slaves and their descendants.

Slave owners got rich, Slaves where left with poverty and (presumably) severe PTSD.
