The Government should recognise that school cleaners, caretakers and other support staff provide a vital service and ought to be a high priority group for COVID vaccination.

Facilities staff (cleaners, caretakers, catering staff etc.) have provided a vital service in keeping schools functioning throughout the pandemic. Since September they have been exposed to a higher potential for infection than the majority of the background population. There is potentially great social and economic impact locally should a school have to close due to an outbreak of COVID-19 among the support staff.
