Rejected petition: Ban driving insurance companies from charging more because of a drivers age
Rejected on
The Government should ban car insurance companies from charging higher premiums based solely on a driver’s age. Insurance prices should be based on individual risk factors such as driving record and claims history, not age-based assumptions.
Age-based pricing in car insurance is unfair and discriminatory. Many young and older drivers have clean records and drive safely, yet are charged more purely because of their age. Premiums should reflect individual behaviour and risk, not broad assumptions that penalise responsible drivers and limit access to work, education, and independence.
