Rejected petition Expand CAMHS assessments to include neurodivergent children in severe distress

Expand CAMHS assessment criteria so neurodivergent children in severe distress can access timely mental health assessments and support, without needing to self-harm or reach crisis point.

More details

Many neurodivergent children experience severe anxiety, emotional dysregulation, school refusal and family breakdown, yet are unable to access CAMHS unless they self-harm or reach crisis. This delays early intervention, increases long-term harm, and places additional pressure on families, schools and emergency services. Early assessment improves outcomes and reduces future costs.
