Rejected petition: Standardised NHS Endometriosis Pathway for Faster, Earlier Diagnosis & Treatment
Rejected on
Endometriosis affects 1 in 7 in the UK yet still takes 7–9 years to receive a diagnosis. Most individuals experience repeated dismissal of symptoms, normalisation of severe pain, and misdiagnosis across multiple healthcare settings. These delays are not only harmful but lead to disease progression.
We are calling for a clear, standardised NHS endometriosis pathway prioritising mandatory improved training for healthcare professionals to reduce dismissal, bias, and misdiagnosis, alongside faster access to specialist care, early recognition in primary care, prompt referral to gynaecology, equitable access to diagnostics, consideration of validated non-invasive tests such as the Ziwig Endotest, evaluation of emerging research including Fusobacterium, and clear diagnostic timelines.
