Rejected petition: Scrap the planned 22% charge on cash interest held in Stocks & Shares ISAs
Rejected on
We call on the Government to abandon the planned flat-rate 22% charge on interest earned on cash held within Stocks & Shares and Innovative Finance ISAs, due to take effect from April 2027.
We call on the Government to scrap both the cut to the Cash ISA limit for under-65s and the 22% charge on cash interest in Stocks & Shares ISAs, due from April 2027.
These changes mean working-age savers can shelter less cash from tax and face a new 22% charge on interest from cash they have already paid income tax on. The charge applies even to those who pay no income tax. We believe this unfairly targets ordinary savers and should not go ahead in any form.
