Rejected petition: Mark England's 1,100th birthday on the 12th July 2027, and a month of history.

Rejected on

We ask that England be formally recognised with a National Holiday on the 12th of July, and a month of history, given that it strangely has neither. In 2027 it will be 1100 years old - let residents and visitors explore and share the stories, traditions, and achievements, that shaped this country.

England is arguably the first nation in Europe to have a formal date of inception - the day Aethelstan became the first King of all the English at Eamont Bridge, near Penrith, on the 12th of July 927.

That means the last 30 years marks only 2.7% of the entire history of this great country. That is something lost on most and so it stands to reason that if we don't mark the occasion formally, the history of this country will be forgotten.

Help us avoid that by formally recognising the occasion.
