Rejected petition: Review the six-week school holidays and redistribute the time to other holidays

Rejected on

Review the school year by reducing the summer holiday and redistributing the time across other school breaks

We ask the UK Government to review the school summer holiday in England and consider reducing it. The time should be added to other holidays during the year, keeping the number of school days the same. The break no longer reflects modern life. Longer holidays may reduce term time absence and fines. It will shorten the time some children are without access to school meals
We ask the Government to consult with all necessary parties and create a calendar that meets the needs of today’s families.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Term times are a matter for local authorities and schools.
