Rejected petition: Prevent false domestic-abuse claims being used to obtain ILR.
Rejected on
We call on the UK Government to strengthen safeguards against deliberately false domestic-abuse claims being used to obtain Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). Claims should be assessed fairly and carefully, with appropriate action where fraud is proven, while ensuring genuine victims remain fully
We believe genuine victims must have access to protection and a fair route to settlement. However, where there is credible evidence that a person has deliberately fabricated allegations or provided false evidence for immigration purposes, there should be appropriate investigation and consequenceswhere fraud is proven. We therefore call on the Government to review the current safeguards and ensure that immigration applications based on domestic abuse are assessed fairly, consistently
