Open petition: Require compensation for call centres wasting customers’ time

Created by Christopher Rogers
Closes on

I want Government and Parliament to implement legislation that limits the time that a customer has to spend on the phone to call centres and AI agents. It should allow the customer to claim financial compensation from the service provider for the time wasted over a set time limit, say 30 minutes.

In our view many of us waste hours and hours of our lives on the phone to call centres, often sorting out very simple issues or the service providers' own mistakes. Many of these centres were originally created by the company to reduce costs within the organisations, but we think these costs have effectively been passed to customers by way of wasted time. I seek a way of limiting the amount of time wasted on such calls and allowing for some form of redress where appropriate.
