Rejected petition: Equal Access to University for Long-Term UK-Resident Students
Rejected on
We ask the UK Government to introduce home-fee status for long-term UK-resident children and dependants of visa holders, including Skilled Worker visa holders, who have been educated in the UK, recognising their families’ contribution to the UK economy and communities.
Many young people who have grown up and been educated in the UK are charged international university fees because their parents hold visas such as the Skilled Worker visa. Despite living in the UK for years and contributing to the economy through their families’ work and taxes, these students can face fees of £30,000–£50,000+ per year, making university and careers such as medicine financially inaccessible.
