Open petition: Fund more entry level roles for NHS graduate paramedics

Created by Callum Simpson
Closes on

Each year, many graduate paramedics find themselves unable to find work in their profession. We ask the Government to fund the creation of more structured, supervised early-career graduate paramedic roles across the NHS.

The Royal College of Paramedics estimates that up to 50% (~1,200) of new paramedic registrants this year may not progress into professional roles on completion of their university education.

We believe the Government should work with the Royal College of Paramedics and NHS bodies and fund the creation of more supervised preceptorship roles (like the ambulance NQP programme) for graduate paramedics. This could ease increasing pressure on sectors such as primary and urgent care, whilst utilising a valuable workforce.
