Rejected petition: Child Protection from sexualised commercial exploitation online act

Rejected on

I call on UK Government to amend legislation to make it an offence online to display, use or associate a child’s likeness, presence or imagine with pornography or sexual services for advertising, promotion or commercial gain, to protect children from sexualised exploitation online.

Current UK law protects children from sexual abuse and indecent imagery but may not prevent a child’s image, presence or likeness being used alongside pornography or sexual services online. I believe this creates a safeguarding gap. I would like to call on the Government to introduce a UK-wide offence which prohibits the use of children in advertising, marketing or promotion of adult sexual content, even when the child is fully clothed, not sexually exposed, and not otherwise depicted indecently
