Rejected petition: Legislation creation to protect ownership of digital goods.

Rejected on

Digital goods such as software, movies, music, games, etc.. are sold without clear warnings that the product can be taken away. Legislation should be introduced making it illegal for platforms to show a product with "Buy" or any other ownership terms if they can't guarantee access forever.

Many platforms sell digital goods as if consumers own them, when in reality they are often buying a licence that can be revoked. It should be illegal to label something as "for sale" or use terminology such as "Buy Now" when the consumer does not acquire lasting ownership or guaranteed access. Digital goods should have clear ownership rights, just like physical goods, and consumers should not be misled about what they are actually buying.
