Rejected petition: Fund a national police search-and-rescue tracking scheme for autistic children.
Rejected on
We want the Government to provide central funding and guidance for police forces across the UK to adopt active search-and-rescue tracking technology for autistic children and vulnerable people prone to wandering, similar to international schemes like Project Lifesaver.
Autistic children who wander face severe risks near roads or water and often cannot respond to standard search calls. In North America, radio-frequency tracking schemes let police locate missing vulnerable people in under 30 minutes on average.
UK police currently rely on reactive paperwork schemes like the Herbert Protocol. The Government should fund electronic tracking tech for UK police and search-and-rescue teams to save lives, cut search times, and reduce emergency costs.
