Rejected petition: Regulate estate management companies

Rejected on

We call on the Government to introduce legislation to properly regulate private estate management companies responsible for maintaining communal areas and services on residential housing developments.

Thousands of homeowners across England are required to pay estate management charges for services such as landscaping, maintenance of communal areas, roads, lighting, drainage, play areas, ecological management and other shared infrastructure. However, homeowners can have limited control over how these charges are calculated, how contracts are awarded and how their money is spent.
