Open petition: Extend menopause action plan duties to Employers with fewer than 250 Employees
Created by Kerry Belinda Tonks
Closes on
From April 2026, employers with 250 or more employees are encouraged to publish menopause action plans, becoming mandatory in 2027. We call on the Government to extend this duty to smaller employers, with practical support and guidance so that it is achievable for them.
Women working for smaller organisations will have no menopause action plan, no published support, leaving a void of structured support to turn to.
Women have left jobs because of a lack of support at work. That loss of skills and experience happens in small businesses too, and small businesses can least afford to lose experienced staff.
We ask that the duty be extended proportionately, with a simple template and guidance so that smaller employers can comply without disproportionate cost.
